The network has picked up drama Conviction to pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
From The Mark Gordon Co. (Quantico), the drama tells the story of Carter Morrison, the brilliant but ne’er-do-well daughter of a former president, who is blackmailed into taking a job as the head of Los Angeles’ newly created Conviction Integrity Unit. There, Carter and her team of lawyers, investigators and forensic experts work together to examine cases where there’s credible suspicion that the wrong person may have been convicted of a crime
Liz Friedman (Elementary, Jessica Jones) will pen the script and exec produce alongside Liz Friedlander (The Following), with the latter on board to direct. Independent producer Mark Gordon (with backing from Entertainment One) will exec produce alongside Nicholas Pepper. The drama is considered a co-production between ABC Studios — where Gordon’s company used to be based — and MGC.
